Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass

Everyone at Moon Shadow is about to see one of the most amazing things of their lives-even if they don't want to. For Ally, this is one of the most important things of her life. Her parents have been waiting for this moment for years. Ally, her little brother, and her mom and dad have being living at Moon Shadow since Ally could remember, but that might change. In the middle of nowhere, Ally is home schooled. The only way she knows about the world outside Moon Shadow is from books. On the other hand, Bree would rather be at the mall with her best friends, getting their nails done, then anyplace with dirt. When Bree finds out that they are going to Moon Shadow and might even be moving their, she flips out. You see, Bree is one of the most popular girls in school. Everything she worked hard for would be put to waste. And then theirs Jack. Jack is the overweight, shy kid that everyone makes fun of. The only reason he is coming to Moon Shadow is because if he does, he will get out of summer school. Will these totally different people come together and be friends? Will Bree and Ally change places in the world?

I love the book Every Soul a Star!! I loved how every chapter the person talking is different. We get to hear everyones point of view on things. I also like the characters. They are so different from each other but they make great friends. My favorite character would have to be Bree. In the beginning I didn't really like her but she changed so much during the book. I liked how confident she was in her self. I also think she had good style. Another character that changed a lot in the book was Jack. He became comfortable with himself, which is something he really had to do. I liked Allys personality. She was very into nature and loved learning about stars, but then she had a adventuresome side to her. This is such a great book!

Rocky Road by Rose Kent

This book is about a girl named Tess, her brother and her ma. Tess and her family are living in warm Texas, when suddenly her mom wants to move to freezing Schenectady, NY. Tess thinks her ma is finally going crazy after she tells Tess that she is going to open a ice cream shop in the middle of winter! In New York! Tess knows that they already have money problems in Texas and they might run out of money in New York. Her little brother is deaf and her mom has bipolar disease, so she has to help her family with everything. When her mom has a break down on the shop's opening day, Tess has to come to the rescue. Can she fix all the problems that Schenectady has given her?

I loved this book. It was very sad but then happy at times. I felt so bad for Tess. Her family didn't have a lot of money and sometimes she felt like she was the mother of her family.  She had to go through a lot. This book had a lot of detail when it talked about what the ice cream shop looked like. I wish I was there! I couldn't put this book down because I always wanted to find out what would happen next. The mom in this book had a lot of problems and didn't know how to deal with them, which was sad. Tess's brother was deaf and Tess was always trying to make him happy. She was a great sister. I have nothing to complain about with this book. You should really read this! Tell me what you think!

Rose Kent Vist

I had lunch with an author! Rose Kent, the author of Rocky Road and Kimchi and Calamari came to my school. I have read both of her books, and I loved them. Rose talked to us about her journey and how she got to be a writer. It really inspired me. I learned about how hard it really is to be a writer. Its not just a walk in the park! A few days after she talked to my class about writing, a few people and I got invited to have lunch with Rose! She asked us about her writing and gave us advice. It was so cool! She talked to us about how to continue with our writing and to not give up. I will be writing reviews on Rose's books, so stay tuned! Here is the link to Rose Kent's website- http://www.rosekent.com/index.html.
If you read her books tell me what you think!

My Life in Pink and Green by Lisi Greenwald

Twelve-year old Lucy helps out at her family's drugstore. Things are not like they used to be, back in the day. The drugstore used to busy and lively. Now people want to go to the big chain stores. This has really affected the drugstore. Her mom and grandma might even have to sell the store, or their house! One day at the store the local homecoming queen walks in.  She is having a very bad hair day. Lucy offeres to help, she knows what she's talking about. She makes the homecoming queen look better than ever. Soon more people want Lucy to do their makeup. While this is going on, Lucy is going through crushes and a best friend. Is her makeover business enough to save the drugstore? Will her family be able to trust a seventh-grader?

I thought My life in Pink and Green was a really good book. I liked how the main character was twelve--I am too, so I feel like I could relate to her. I liked how in the begining of each chapter there was a beauty or business tip. I learned some stuff by reading this. This book was very interesting and had a good plot. It was a little slow at times but I still liked it. Most of the time it grabbed your attention and you wanted to know what happened next. I liked it so much I read it in two days! I could imangine this happening in real life, it is really realistic. This is a great book that you should read. Tell me what you think!
